Enzymatic, bacterial, and fungal processes take place along the long 22 feet of small bowel and approximately 5 to 6 feet of large bowel called the colon in humans. The small and large bowel has different lengths depending upon the species. Dog food manufacturers use to push grain made dog foods, which caused a mucoid plaque buildup on the intestinal walls. A lot of humans and pets eat a high protein diet which frugivores can’t handle. Even in omnivores a high protein diet can destroy the animal, especially breaking down gut and kidney tissues.
